Content: Aaliyah Guyton, a standout guard for Peoria High girls basketball, announced her verbal commitment to Iowa on Monday night at Que For You restaurant. She was surrounded by family and friends as she revealed her decision. She will join the Hawkeyes after her senior season, choosing the 2023 NCAA national runner-up over Illinois, Nebraska, Michigan State and Pittsburgh.
"I would like to finally announce that I will be committing to the University of Iowa," she said.
Guyton showed her choice by taking off her black jacket and showing the Hawkeyes logo and "IOWA" on the back of a white T-shirt. Before that, she thanked her family, teammates and coaches during a speech while standing at the front of the restaurant.

Guyton, who is ranked No. 57 on the ESPN 2024 HoopGurlz recruiting rankings¹, was the 2023 Journal Star girls basketball player of the year. The 5-foot-7 point guard is a four-star prospect, averaging 21.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists during her junior season. Peoria High finished third in Class 3A.
